If You...I Will
March 20, 2021
[Scripture is full of ‘if’ you’ and ‘I will’s’. spoken by Yahweh to His people. Since we claim to be His people we should be aware of the words spoken to us and our forefathers. I have used several versions in this lesson. There are three versions that do not have the phrase ‘if you’ anywhere. They are the ASV (American Standard Version, KJV (King James Version, and YLT (Young’s Literal Translation). They may use thou instead of you or some other word arrangement to bring forth the same meaning.]
(Exo 4:22-23 KJV) And thou shalt say unto Pharaoh, Thus saith Yahweh, Israel is My son, even My firstborn: 4:23 And I say unto thee, Let my son go, that he may serve me: and if thou refuse to let him go, behold, I will slay thy son, even thy firstborn.
[KJV does have a’if thou’.The only if was directed at Pharaoh. Yahweh’s ‘I will’ is a statement of intent, it is the aim, the goal of Yahweh to kill if Pharaoh does not give in. Yahweh cannot lie and He will keep His promises.]
(Exo 15:26 AFV – A Faithful Version) And he said, "If you will diligently hearken to the voice of Yahweh your Almighty, and will do that which is right in His sight, and will give ear to His commandments, and keep all His laws, I will put none of these diseases upon you, which I have brought upon the Egyptians; for I am Yahweh Who heals you."
[If we obey Yahweh He will not put this type of diseases upon us. Generally those of Egypt were the degenerative diseases caused by bad diet. So if we obey His food program we will not have heart disease, etc. These are called inherited diseases and that follows us into adulthood, for what mom fed us is generally what we eat as adults. In my case I changed to a plant based diet in my early 40’s and have escaped the heart disease, diabetes, and over weight prevalent in my family history. Not that it is the only diet for good health but you have a hard time being unhealthy if you eat a wide variety of non-processed foods.]
(Exo 19:3-6 AFV) And Moses went up to Almighty, and Yahweh called to him out of the mountain, saying, "Thus you shall say to the house of Jacob and tell the children of Israel, 19:4 'You have seen what I did to the Egyptians, and how I bore you on eagles' wings and brought you unto Myself. 19:5 Now therefore, if you will obey My voice indeed, and keep My covenant, then you shall be a special treasure to Me above all people; for all the earth is Mine. 19:6 And you shall be to Me a kingdom of priests and a set-apart nation.' These are the words which you shall speak to the children of Israel."
[Did you ever wish to be used of Yahweh? Well this is what you must do – you must obey Yahweh!]
(Exo 23:22 BBE- Bible in Basic English) But if you truly give ear to his [Moses] voice, and do whatever I say, then I will be against those who are against you, fighting those who are fighting you.
[Since all power rests /emanates from Yahweh there are none who can defeat Him. He will fight the battles of the obedient ones.]
(Lev 26:1-9 BBE) Do not make images of false gods, or put up an image cut in stone or a pillar or any pictured stone in your land, to give worship to it; for I am Yahweh your Almighty. 26:2 Keep My Sabbaths and give honor to My set-apart place: I am the Most High. 26:3 If you are guided by My rules, and keep My laws and do them, 26:4 Then I will give you rain at the right time, and the land will give her increase and the trees of the field will give their fruit; 26:5 And the crushing of the grain will overtake the cutting of the grapes, and the cutting of the grapes will overtake the planting of the seed, and there will be bread in full measure, and you will be living in your land safely. 26:6 And I will give you peace in the land, and you will take your rest and no one will give you cause for fear; and I will put an end to all evil beasts in the land, and no sword of war will go through your land. 26:7 And you will put to flight those who are against you, and they will be put to death by your swords. 26:8 Then five of you will put to flight a hundred, and a hundred of you will put to flight ten thousand, and all who are against you will be put to death by your swords. 26:9 And I will have pleasure in you and make you fertile and greater in number; and I will keep my agreement with you.
[If we will abide by Yahweh’s rules – not just give them lip service – look at all He will do. HE WILL DO AS HE SAYS.]
(Lev 26:14-22 ISV International Standard Version) "But if you won't listen to Me and obey all these commands, 26:15 and if you refuse My statutes, loathe My ordinances, fail to do all My commands, thereby breaching My covenant, 26:16 then I will certainly do this to you: I'll appoint sudden terror to infect you like tuberculosis and fever. Your eyes will fail and your life will waste away. You'll plant in vain, because your enemies will consume what you plant. 26:17 "I'll set My face against you so that you'll be defeated before your enemies. Those who hate you will have dominion over you and you'll keep fleeing even when no one is pursuing you. 26:18 "If despite all of this you still don't listen to Me, then I'll punish you seven times more on account of your sins. 26:19 I'll break your mighty pride. I'll make the heavens to be like iron and the ground like bronze. 26:20 Your strength will be spent in vain, because your land won't yield its produce and the trees of the land won't yield its fruit. 26:21 "If you live life contrary to Me and remain unwilling to listen to Me, then I'll add to your wounds seven times more on account of your sins. 26:22 I'll send the wild beasts against you from the open country to deprive you of your children, destroy your cattle, and decrease your number so that your roads become desolate.
[If we won’t listen, If we refuse Yah’s statutes then Yahweh will set His face against us to destroy us and our land.]
(Lev 26:23-26 ISV) If despite these things you still won't return to Me, but live life contrary to Me, 26:24 then I'll certainly oppose you. I'll take vengeance against you seven fold on account of your sins. 26:25 I'll bring the sword against you to execute the vengeance of My covenant. When you gather in your cities, I'll send a pestilence. As a result, you'll be delivered into the control of your enemies. 26:26 "When I destroy the source of your bread, ten women will bake bread in one oven. Then they'll return back your bread by weight. You'll eat but won't be satisfied.
[If we are stubborn Yahweh promises to be against us. How can that be? Are we not walking in all we know of His requirements, not suggestions? Food so scanty that the bread for 10 families can be baked in the same oven at the same time. Not only that but what we eat will not be enough to satisfy.]
(Lev 26:27-33 ISV) "If after all of this time you don't listen to Me, but instead live life contrary to Me, 26:28 I'll oppose you with vicious rage. Indeed, I myself will punish you seven fold on account of your sins. 26:29 At that time you'll eat the flesh of your sons and you'll eat the flesh of your daughters. 26:30 "I'll destroy your high places and cut down your sun-pillars. Then I'll cast your dead bodies on top of the bodies of your idols. "I'll loathe you. 26:31 I'll lay your cities to waste and destroy your sanctuaries so I don't have to smell the scent of your soothing odors. 26:32 "I'll make the land so desolate that your enemies who live in it will be astonished." 26:33 "I'll scatter you among the nations and draw the sword after you so that your land becomes desolate and your towns become ruins. 26:34 "Then the land will finally be pleased with its Sabbaths as long as it lies desolate while you are in the land of your enemies. At that time the land will rest and take its Sabbaths.
[All of this destruction because we are stubborn and set on having things as we want in the flesh. Those who have not opposed sin will surely reap along with those whose sins are known. These promises were made to all Israel and all Israel were put out of the land. Are we any better behaved than they were?]
(Lev 26:35-39 ISV) As long as it lies desolate, it will have rest that it will not have had during your Sabbaths when you were living in it. 26:36 "As for the remnants among you, I'll bring despair in their hearts in the land of their enemies so that even the sound of a blown leaf will chase them and they flee as though pursued by the sword and fall when no one is pursuing. 26:37 They'll stumble over each other as though fleeing before the sword, even though no one is pursuing. "You won't have power to resist your enemies. 26:38 You'll perish among the nations and the land of your enemies will consume you. 26:39 The remnants among you will waste away on account of their iniquity in the land of your enemies. Indeed, they'll also waste away on account of the iniquities of their ancestors with them.
[Our nation has, in the past, set the Sabbath aside for Sunday worship which they used to keep as strict as the Sabbath. Businesses were closed and towns and cities were quite for there was little travel on Sunday. Now there is no set-apart time for the nation to rest and worship, it is business as usual seven days a week.]
(Isa 58:6-14 ISV) Isn't this the fast that I have been choosing: to loose the bonds of injustice, and to untie the cords of the yoke, and to let the oppressed go free, and to break every yoke? 58:7 Isn't it to share your bread with the hungry, and to bring the homeless poor into your house; when you see the naked, to cover him with clothing, and not to raise yourself up from your own flesh and blood?" 58:8 "Then your light will break forth like the dawn, and your healing will spring up quickly; and your vindication will go before you, and the honor of Yahweh will guard your back. 58:9 Then you'll call, and Yahweh will answer; you'll cry for help, and He'll respond, 'Here I am.' "If you do away with the yoke among you, and pointing fingers and malicious talk;
58:10 if you pour yourself out for the hungry and satisfy the needs of afflicted souls, then your light will rise in darkness, and your night will be like noonday. 58:11 And Yahweh will guide you continuously, and satisfy your soul in parched places, and they will strengthen your bones; and you'll be like a watered garden, like a spring of water, whose waters never fail. 58:12 And your people will rebuild the ancient ruins; You'll raise up the age-old foundations, and people will call you 'Repairer of Broken Walls,' 'Restorer of Streets to Live In.' 58:13 "If you keep your feet from trampling the Sabbath, from pursuing your own interests on My set-apart day, if you call the Sabbath a delight and Yahweh’s set-apart day honorable; and if you honor it by not going your own ways and seeking your own pleasure or speaking merely idle words, 58:14 then you will take delight in Yahweh, and He will make you ride upon the heights of the earth; and He will make you feast on the inheritance of your ancestor Jacob, your father. "Yes! The mouth of Yahweh has spoken."
[Fasting can be a touchy subject but Yahweh wants us to fast to bring our bodies as well as our hearts into alignment with His desires. We are to love our fellow man and show it in practical ways. If we do this Yahweh will supply our needs amply. We are also to help in the restoration of the true worship of Yahweh as He has laid out in scripture. When looking to people for instruction instead of scripture we get both the bad and the good. We also get what they have added to His requirements and we lose what they have set aside.]
(Mat 4:8-10 ASV) Again, the devil taketh Him unto an exceeding high mountain, and showeth Him all the kingdoms of the world, and the magnificense of them; 4:9 and he said unto Him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me. 4:10 Then saith Yahshua unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship Yahweh thy Almighty and Him only shalt thou serve.
[It is true that the enemy of Yahweh will reward those that serve and worship him. It is also true that he will lie and deceive them to get them to do as he demands or coaxes. He also does not have the power to over rule Yahweh’s promises to the obedient.]
(Mat 6:9-15 BBE) Let this then be your prayer: Our Father in heaven, may your name be kept set-apart. 6:10 Let your kingdom come. Let your pleasure be done, as in heaven, so on earth. 6:11 Give us this day bread for our needs. 6:12 And make us free of our debts, as we have made those free who are in debt to us. 6:13 And let us not be put to the test, but keep us safe from the Evil One.6:14 For if you let men have forgiveness for their sins, you will have forgiveness from your Father in heaven. 6:15 But if you do not let men have forgiveness for their sins, you will not have forgiveness from your Father for your sins.
[It can be impossible in our own strength to forgive those who have wronged us, but with Yahweh all things are possible. You start with a desire to please Yahweh. Then you determine to say the words even if your heart is not there yet. Keep forgiving and giving it to Yahweh to judge between you and the one wronging you. Eventually you will find the hurt and especially the anger is gone and you have really forgiven. Then you should accept Yahweh’s forgiveness for you past sins. If you refuse are you not calling Yahweh a liar for He has declared Yahshua’s shed blood to be sufficient to cover every repented sin no matter who the sinner is.]
(Mar 9:23-24 BBE) And Yahshua said to him, If you are able! All things are possible to him who has faith. 9:24 Straight away the father of the child gave a cry, saying, I have faith; make my feeble faith stronger.
[How many times I have quoted these verses and called them out myself when seeking answers and strength.]
(Luk 12:25-28 BBE) And which of you by taking thought is able to make himself any taller? 12:26 If, then, you are not able to do even that which is least, why are you troubled about the rest? 12:27 Give thought to the flowers: they do no work, they make no thread; and still I say to you, Even Solomon, in all his magnificense, was not clothed like one of these. 12:28 But if Almighty gives such clothing to the grass in the field, which today is living, and tomorrow will be burned in the oven, how much more will He give clothing to you, O men of little faith?
[In our own physical and mental power we can do some great things, but not spiritually, and even then that power was given us by Yahweh.]
(Rom 10:9-13 BBE) Because, if you say with your mouth that Yahshua is Master, and have faith in your heart that Almighty has made Him come back from the dead, you will have salvation: 10:10 For with the heart man has faith to get righteousness, and with the mouth he says that Yahshua is Master to get salvation. 10:11 Because it is said in the set-apart Writings, Whoever has faith in Him will not be shamed. 10:12 And the Jew is not different from the Greek: for there is the same Master of all, who is good to all who have hope in His name: 10:13 Because, Whoever will give worship to the name of the Master will get salvation.
[This is often miss quoted leaving out the requirement for heart
belief that Yahshua arose from the dead and walked among men the second time. Are we looking forward to the third time?]
(1Jn 2:26-29 AFV) These things I have written to you concerning those who are leading you astray. 2:27 AFV) But you yourselves have dwelling in you the anointing that you received from Him; and you do not have need of anyone to indoctrinate you; for the same anointing instructs you in all spiritual things, and is true, and is not a lie; and if you do exactly as it has taught you, you will be dwelling in Him. 2:28 And now, little children, dwell in Him, so that when He is manifested we may have boldness, and not be put to shame before Him at His coming. 2:29 If you know that He is righteous, you also know that everyone who practices righteousness has been begotten by Him.
[Teachers are often followed over the plain meaning of scripture. The student has a responsibility to prayerfully study thus calling upon the anointing of Yahshua’s spirit through the Comforter whose job it is to remind us of what we already have heard and accepted. He also can open your understanding to a new or expanded truth. We are to be known by the fruits of our character, that we walk as commanded in love of one another.]
(Rev 2:4 AFV) Nevertheless, I have this against you, that you have left your first love. 2:5 Therefore, remember from where you have fallen, and repent, and do the first works; for if you do not, I will come to you quickly; and I will remove your lamp stand out of its place unless you repent.
[Perhaps you have become discouraged because so few will listen to your testimony, or it has gotten you in trouble with some group or employer and you have backed off. Try praising Yahweh for every little thing He is doing in your life today. Be a living testimonial they can see with their eyes. If you rail at others no one will credit what you say. Avoid criticizing the teachings of others. When we disagree it is fitting to reply, but do it with a kind voice and countenance, not angry words and looks.]
(Rev 2:14-17 AFV) But I have a few things against you because you have there those who hold the teaching of Balaam, who taught Balak to cast a stumbling block before the children of Israel, to eat things sacrificed to idols and to commit fornication. 2:15 Moreover, you also have those who hold the doctrine of the Nicolaitanes, which thing I hate. 2:16 Repent! For if you do not repent, I will come to you quickly, and will make war against them with the sword of My mouth. 2:17 The one who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To the one who overcomes I will give the right to eat of the hidden manna; and I will give him a white stone, and on the stone a new name written, which no one knows except the one who receives it.
“The doctrine of the Nicolaitans appears to have been a form of antinomianism, which makes the fatal mistake that man can freely partake in sin because the Law of God is no longer binding. It held the truth on the gratuitous reckoning of righteousness; but supposed that a mere intellectual "belief" in this truth had a saving power. Reference:
carm.org › dictionary › antinomianism
The word antinomianism comes from the Greek anti, against, and nomos, law. It is the unbiblical practice of living without regard to the righteousness of God, using God’s grace as a license to sin, and trusting grace to cleanse of sin. In other words, since grace is infinite and we are saved by grace, then we can sin all we want and still be saved. It is wrong because even though as Christians we are not under the Law ( Rom. 6:14 ), we still fulfill the Law in the Law of love ( Rom.13:8, 10; )
[These are beliefs found in many churches of today. Sin, say Sorry, be forgiven. Sin, say Sorry, be forgiven. Sorry should mean I will put it from me forever and return to the teachings of Yahweh. Yes we can and are forgiven for our sins of ignorance, but deliberately sinning again and again is not a sign of true repentance but self serving to allow continued fellowship. I came from a culture that taught basically the same teaching; Yahweh made us and He knows our weaknesses and makes allowance for them. He does make allowances for our circumstances, surroundings, and the time in history that set the morals of common life. He does take notice of our character and habits in reference to what we do know and what we could know if we but wanted to.]
(Rev 3:1 AFV) "And to the angel of the church in Sardis, write: These things says He Who has the seven spirits of Almighty and the seven stars. I know your works, and that you have a name as if you are alive, but are dead. 3:2 Be watchful, and strengthen the things that remain, which are about to die. For I have not found your works complete before Almighty. 3:3 Therefore, remember what you have received and heard, and hold on to this, and repent. Now then, if you will not watch, I will come upon you as a thief, and you shall by no means know what hour I will come upon you.
[Deliberate avoidance of knowledge is dangerous to your eternal health. Accepting the teachings of the Nicolaitans in any form or name is a death sentence if you do not truly repent and return to Yahweh. Why this lesson now? Only the one/ones whose toes have been stepped on knows. Verse 3 speaks of His coming for the body, but I believe this also speaks to the time of our personal come-upperence, when we have reached the point of no return in our disobedience. We only have this moment. The past cannot be changed and the future is not yet, just this minute is sure. Do not delay.]
