New or Renewed
April 10, 2021
[Many of the quotes will be from other sections of the Old Testament as well as Torah. Torah is the basic foundation for knowing Yahweh and living a life He appreciates in His children. Why appreciate? What parent does not appreciate an obedient child? That child shows the parent knows now and knew in the past what was necessary to bring the child to a happy ending. Is that not what we all want for ourselves and our loved ones – a happy ending?]
(Mat 5:17-20 AFV) Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I did not come to abolish, but to fulfill. 5:18 For truly I say to you, until the heaven and the earth shall pass away, one jot or one tittle shall in no way pass from the Law until everything has been fulfilled. 5:19 Therefore, whoever shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever shall practice and teach them, this one shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. 5:20 For I say to you, unless your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, there is no way that you shall enter into the kingdom of heaven.
(Isa 51:3-12 AFV) For Yahweh shall comfort Zion; He will comfort all her waste places; and He will make her wilderness like Eden, and her desert like the garden of Yahweh. Joy and gladness shall be found in it, thanksgiving and the voice of melody. 51:4 "Hearken to Me, My people; and give ear to Me, O My nation; for instruction shall proceed from Me, and I will make My justice as a light to the people. 51:5 My righteousness is near; My salvation has gone out, and My arms shall judge the people; the isles shall wait upon Me, and on My arm they shall trust. 51:6 Lift up your eyes to the heavens, and look upon the earth beneath; for the heavens shall vanish away like smoke, and the earth shall become old like a garment; and its inhabitants shall die in the same way. But My salvation shall be forever, and My righteousness shall not be abolished. 51:7 Hearken to Me, you who know righteousness, the people in whose heart is My law; do not fear the reproach of men, nor be afraid of their revilings; 51:8 For the moth shall eat them up like a garment, and the worm shall eat them like wool; but My righteousness shall be forever, and My salvation from generation to generation." 51:9 Awake! Awake! Put on strength, O arm of Yahweh. Awake, as in the ancient days, in the generations of old. Was it not You Who cut Rahab into pieces, piercing the serpent? 51:10 Was it not You Who dried up the sea, the waters of the great deep; Who made the depths of the sea a way for the redeemed to pass over? 51:11 Therefore the redeemed of Yahweh shall return and come with singing into Zion; and everlasting joy shall be upon their head. Gladness and joy shall overtake them; sorrow and mourning shall flee away. 51:12 "I, even I, am He Who comforts you. Who are you, that you should be afraid of a man that shall die, or of the son of man who is made as grass?
(Exo 19:9 AFV) And Yahweh said to Moses, "Lo, I come to you in a thick cloud that the people may hear when I speak with you, and believe you forever." And Moses told the words of the people to Yahweh.
(Deu 12:28 AFV) Be careful to observe and obey all these words which I command you, so that it may go well with you and with your children after you forever when you do that which is good and right in the sight of Yahweh your Almighty.
[Yahweh never changes and neither does His laws, commandments, statutes, teachings, etc..We all should know that anything we build; buildings, ideas, families, whatever it be it must have a solid base or it will come to nothing but trouble. Scripture as given by Yahweh is trustworthy, yes I believe that my Father has His hands over all including His word, those things necessary for my health and happiness have been under His protection and preserved for my protection from false teachers.]
(Mat 5:21 AFV) You have heard that it was said to those in ancient times, 'You shall not commit murder; but whoever commits murder shall be subject to judgment.' 5:22 But I say to you, everyone who is angry with his brother without cause shall be subject to judgment. Now you have heard it said, 'Whoever shall say to his brother, "Raca," shall be subject to the judgment of the council.' But I say to you, whoever shall say, 'You fool,' shall be subject to the fire of Gehenna. 5:23 For this reason, if you bring your gift to the altar, and there remember that your brother has something against you, 5:24 Leave your gift there before the altar, and go your way; first be reconciled with your brother, and then come and offer your gift.
(Deu 18:17-18 AFV) And Yahweh said to me, 'They have spoken well what they have spoken. 18:18 I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, One like you, and will put My words in His mouth. And He shall speak to them all that I shall command Him.
(Mal 3:1 AFV) "Behold, I will send My messenger, and he will prepare the way before Me. And the Most High Whom you seek, shall suddenly come to His temple, even the Messenger of the covenant, in Whom you delight. Behold, He comes," says Yahweh of hosts.
[We all know murder is a sin but do we accept that our thoughts and words are what leads to murder? To call someone a fool may seem a light thing but it is a son or daughter of the King you are cutting down. Better to think and say it is a foolish act that has been done when speaking a word of correction.
In most cases we know when someone in the family is displeased with us so even if we are not sure what is wrong we need to address that problem before coming to the throne to ask forgiveness for other things or even when bringing a thank you gift.]
(Mat 5:27-30 AFV) You have heard that it was said to those in ancient times, 'You shall not commit adultery.' 5:28 But I say to you, everyone who looks upon a woman to lust after her has already committed adultery with her in his heart. 5:29 So then, if your right eye shall cause you to offend, pluck it out and cast it from you; for it is better for you that one of your members should perish than that your whole body be cast into Gehenna. 5:30 And if your right hand shall cause you to offend, cut it off and cast it from you; for it is better for you that one of your members should perish than that your whole body be cast into Gehenna.
(Deu 5:21 LITV) You shall not lust after your neighbor's wife; nor shall you covet your neighbor's house, his field, nor his male slave, nor his female slave, his ox, nor his ass, nor anything which is your neighbor's.
Lust H183 A primitive root; to wish for: - covet, (greatly) desire, be desirous, long, lust (after).
[Most versions and translations prefer to use the word covet instead of lust. We can pretend they are different, but lust is a strong emotion for a strong desire. To admire what Yahweh has created for beauty is not wrong, but to dream of it, to crave to possess it, to have it take a prominent place in your mind and emotions is lust.]
(Mat 5:31-32 KJV) It hath been said, Whosoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a writing of divorcement: 5:32 But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery.
Fornication G4202 From G4203; harlotry (including adultery and incest); figuratively idolatry: - fornication.
(Deu 24:1-4 TS2009) “When a man takes a wife and shall marry her, then it shall be, if she finds no favour in his eyes because he has found a matter of uncoveredness (a) in her, and he shall write her a certificate of divorce, and put it in her hand, and send her out of his house, 24:2 and if she left his house and went and became another man’s wife, 24:3 and the latter husband shall hate her and write her a certificate of divorce, and put it in her hand, and send her out of his house, or when the latter husband dies who took her to be his wife, 24:4 then her former husband who sent her away is not allowed to take her back to be his wife after she has been defiled, for that would be an abomination before Yahweh. And do not bring sin on the land which Yahweh your Almighty is giving you as an inheritance.
Footnote: (a)Proof that she is not a maiden, indicating that she had previously been fornicating. See also Mat 5:32 and Mat 19:9.
[I have read and heard spoken that they would allow divorce for any slight grievance a man might bring against a wife. This version is the only one who gives a specific charge, plainly spelled out. But does it agree with Yahshua? He had just dealt with adultery, so I have always leaned to the teaching that idolatry was the only reason for divorce. The quote from Deu. 24 seems to imply that if a fault be found in the beginning of the marriage, and if it was prior indulgence in sex that would be reveal in the first day of marriage. So hopefully no child would result, but we all know that is not something that can be counted on.]
(Mat 5:33-36 KJV) Again, ye have heard that it hath been said by them of old time, Thou shalt not forswear thyself, but shalt perform unto Most High thine oaths: 5:34 But I say unto you, Swear not at all; neither by heaven; for it is Almighty’s throne: 5:35 Nor by the earth; for it is His footstool: neither by Jerusalem; for it is the city of the great King. 5:36 Neither shalt thou swear by thy head, because thou canst not make one hair white or black. 5:37 But let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil.
(Num 30:2-5 KJV) If a man vow a vow unto Yahweh, or swear an oath to bind his soul with a bond; he shall not break his word, he shall do according to all that proceedeth out of his mouth. 30:3 If a woman also vow a vow unto Yahweh, and bind herself by a bond, being in her father's house in her youth; 30:4 And her father hear her vow, and her bond wherewith she hath bound her soul, and her father shall hold his peace at her: then all her vows shall stand, and every bond wherewith she hath bound her soul shall stand. 30:5 But if her father disallow her in the day that he heareth; not any of her vows, or of her bonds wherewith she hath bound her soul, shall stand: and Yahweh shall forgive her, because her father disallowed her.
(Num 30:15-16 KJV) But if he shall any ways make them void after that he hath heard them; then he shall bear her iniquity. 30:16 These are the statutes, which Yahweh commanded Moses, between a man and his wife, between the father and his daughter, being yet in her youth in her father's house.
[This is a prime example of the headship Yahweh gave to the man. Only as a widow or divorced woman would Yahweh hold a woman responsible to carry through on any vows they made if the men opposed. In verse 15 the point is made that the men bear the iniquity of vows they cause to be violated after they had been kept awhile.]
(Mat 5:38-42 KJV) Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth: 5:39 But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also. 5:40 And if any man will sue thee at the law, and take away thy coat, let him have thy cape also. 5:41 And whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile, go with him twain. 5:42 Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away.
(Lev 24:19-20 KJV) And if a man cause a blemish in his neighbor; as he hath done, so shall it be done to him; 24:20 Breach for breach, eye for eye, tooth for tooth: as he hath caused a blemish in a man, so shall it be done to him again.
(Lev 19:17-18 KJV) Thou shalt not hate thy brother in thine heart: thou shalt in any wise rebuke thy neighbour, and not suffer sin upon him. 19:18 Thou shalt not avenge, nor bear any grudge against the children of thy people, but thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself: I am Yahweh.
(Deu 32:35-36 KJV) To me belongeth vengeance, and recompense; their foot shall slide in due time: for the day of their calamity is at hand, and the things that shall come upon them make haste. 32:36 For Yahweh shall judge His people, and repent Himself for His servants, when He seeth that their power is gone, and there is none shut up, or left.
[Lev. 24 gives the extreme punishment, it sets a limit to how far vengeance is allowed to go. Lev. 19 urges us to love each other and Deu 32 tells us to leave the getting-even stuff to Yahweh. We have a choice in the matter. We can seek our own satisfaction or we can seek to act as our Father desires and let Him be the judge.]
(Mat 5:43-48 KJV) Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy. 5:44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; 5:45 That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for He maketh His sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust. 5:46 For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same?
5:47 And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so? 5:48 Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.
(Exo 17:14-16 KJV) And Yahweh said unto Moses, Write this for a memorial in a book, and rehearse it in the ears of Joshua: for I will utterly put out the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven. 17:15 And Moses built an altar, and called the name of it Yahweh my Banner: 17:16 For he said, Because Yahweh hath sworn that Yahweh will have war with Amalek from generation to generation.
[Yahweh has not fulfilled this promise yet, but the day will come.]
(Exo 23:4-5 KJV) If thou meet thine enemy's ox or his ass going astray, thou shalt surely bring it back to him again. 23:5 If thou see the ass of him that hateth thee lying under his burden, and wouldest forbear to help him, thou shalt surely help with him.
(Pro 24:15-19 KJV) Lay not wait, O wicked man, against the dwelling of the righteous; spoil not his resting place: 24:16 For a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again: but the wicked shall fall into mischief. 24:17 Rejoice not when thine enemy falleth, and let not thine heart be glad when he stumbleth: 24:18 Lest Yahweh see it, and it displease Him, and He turn away His wrath from him. 24:19 Fret not thyself because of evil men, neither be thou envious at the wicked; 24:20 For there shall be no reward to the evil man; the candle of the wicked shall be put out.
[This does not look like revenge but rather reconciliation. When we rejoice to see evil have we not become evil? Yahweh gave us boundaries to keep us from the cruelties of the nations around us, only seldom does He call for us to not show pity.]
(Deu 19:11-13 AFV) But if a man hates his neighbor and lies in wait for him and attacks him and strikes him mortally so that he dies, and flees to one of these cities, 19:12 Then the elders of his city shall send and bring him away from there and deliver him into the hand of the avenger of blood so that he may die. 19:13 Your eye shall not pity him, but you shall put away the guilt of innocent blood from Israel so that it may go well with you.
(Deu 13:4-11 AFV) You shall walk after Yahweh your Almighty and fear Him, and keep His commandments, and obey His voice, and you shall serve Him and hold fast to Him. 13:5 And that prophet or that dreamer of dreams shall be put to death because he has spoken to turn you against Yahweh your Almighty, Who brought you out of the land of Egypt and redeemed you out of the house of slaves, to thrust you out of the way in which Yahweh your Almighty commanded you to walk. So you shall put the evil away from the midst of you. 13:6 If your brother, the son of your mother, or your son, or your daughter, or the wife of your bosom, or your friend who is like your own soul, lures you secretly, saying, 'Let us go and serve other gods'—which you have not known, you nor your fathers, 13:7 That is, of the gods of the people who are around you, near you or far off from you, from the one end of the earth even to the other end of the earth— 13:8 You shall not consent to him nor hearken to him. Nor shall your eye pity him, nor shall you spare, nor shall you conceal him. 13:9 But you shall surely kill him. Your hand shall be first on him to put him to death, and afterwards the hand of all the people. 13:10 And you shall stone him with stones so that he dies because he has sought to drive you away from Yahweh your Almighty Who brought you out of the land of Egypt from the house of bondage. 13:11 And all Israel shall hear, and fear, and shall do no more any such wickedness as this among you.
[There are other scriptures on this topic but these are the extremes, murder and apostasy. For the deliberate taking of life in the physical and the deliberate destruction of the spiritual life only Yahweh can give. Those who do these things have no pity in their hearts for the ones they destroy, just as a preying animal has no pity for its victims. But unlike the animal the person has the ability to care and the mentality to know right from wrong. They have chosen and should receive the reward of their actions.]
