Shavot or Pentecost?
June 13, 2021
[Count 50 days from the harvest. This is a harvest feast! Before Yahshua that was all it was, or was it?]
(Exo 34:21-22 KJV) Six days thou shalt work, but on the seventh day thou shalt rest: in earing time and in harvest thou shalt rest. 34:22 And thou shalt observe the feast of weeks, of the firstfruits of wheat harvest, and the feast of ingathering at the year's end.
Wheat H2406 Of uncertain derivation; wheat, whether the grain or the plant: - wheat (-en).
[Here I have spent hours chasing after the barley harvest. Wheat farmers are not hard to find. If I understand it the wheat ripens first and it is a major crop here. Every translation and version of scripture I have plainly says wheat except the BBE which uses grain. Strange how we have ignored the plainly written injunction for wheat and substituted barley in its place. Is that because barley can withstand the cold better and can be raised in the far reaches of the Hudson Bay? Or maybe it happened when man decided to tie Shavot to Unleavened Bread? Then declared the wave sheaf offering to be a set-time feast?]
(Exo 9:31-32 KJV) And the flax and the barley was smitten: for the barley was in the ear, and the flax was bolled. 9:32 But the wheat and the rie were not smitten: for they were not grown up.
[In order to tie the commanded wave sheaf offering to unleavened you have to switch from the wheat harvest to the barley harvest since it is two to three weeks earlier. The reasons are no longer are plain, but the error is glaring. Let us personally have the courage to stand for the plain meaning of scripture. It is a matter of extreme importance – the closer we get to the end of time the more of these tests we are going to meet. Do we have the courage to dare to be Daniels?]
(Mat 13:27-30 KJV) So the servants of the householder came and said unto him, Sir, didst not thou sow good seed in thy field? from whence then hath it tares? 13:28 He said unto them, An enemy hath done this. The servants said unto him, Wilt thou then that we go and gather them up? 13:29 But he said, Nay; lest while ye gather up the tares, ye root up also the wheat with them. 13:30 Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn.
[I was considered a fanatic/tare in the Adventist church and put out. And yes, over the years I have had an influence to pull others out as well. I did not chase after them, but walked the path laid for me and it, the path not me, called to them. I agree that this speaks to the final harvest, but it also speaks to our daily walk and our talk that should be drawing others. In the end of time we will be the harvest, yet scripture speaks of the weekly Sabbath and the monthly new moon as being observed for time without end so there will be Yahweh’s time keeping only.]
(Act 1:1-5 KJV) The former treatise have I made, O Theophilus, of all that Jesus began both to do and teach, 1:2 Until the day in which He was taken up, after that He through the Set-apart Spirit had given commandments unto the apostles whom He had chosen: 1:3 To whom also He shewed Himself alive after His passion by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of Almighty: 1:4 And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith He, ye have heard of Me. 1:5 For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Set-apart Spirit not many days hence.
John Gill “Deuteronomy 16:9 Seven weeks then shalt thou number unto thee,.... And then another feast was to take place, called from hence the feast of weeks, and sometimes Pentecost, from its being the fiftieth day:
begin to number the seven weeks from such time as thou beginnest to put the sickle to the corn; for the sheaf of the wave offering, as the first fruits of barley harvest, which was done on the morrow after the sabbath in the passover week, and from thence seven weeks or fifty days were reckoned, and the fiftieth day was the feast here ordered to be kept; so the Targum of Jonathan,"after the reaping of the sheaf ye shall begin to number seven weeks;''see Lev_23:15.
[So the command given in the Targum of Jonathan which gives the grain as barley and the day of the wave sheaf WAS DONE, not was commanded to be, the morrow after the non-commanded feast of the wave sheaf making this a Sabbath/appointed time from which to count rather than the weekly Sabbath. This would avoid the three days of non-work we will encounter for the 50 day count this year.]
(Lev 23:9 -15 YLT) And Yahweh speaketh unto Moses, saying, 23:10 'Speak unto the sons of Israel, and thou hast said unto them, When ye come in unto the land which I am giving to you, and have reaped its harvest, and have brought in the sheaf, the beginning of your harvest unto the priest, 23:11 then he hath waved the sheaf before Yahweh for your acceptance; on the morrow of the sabbath doth the priest wave it. 23:12 'And ye have prepared in the day of your waving the sheaf a lamb, a perfect one, a son of a year, for a burnt-offering to Yahweh, 23:13 and its present two tenth deals of flour mixed with oil, a fire-offering to Yahweh, a sweet fragrance, and its drink-offering, wine, a fourth of the hin. 23:14 'And bread and roasted corn and full ears ye do not eat until this self-same day, until your bringing in the offering of your Almighty—a statute age-during to your generations, in all your dwellings. 23:15 ‘'And ye have numbered to you from the morrow of the sabbath, from the day of your bringing in the sheaf of the wave-offering: they are seven perfect sabbaths;
(Exo 16:23-30 KJV) And he said unto them, This is that which Yahweh hath said, To morrow is the rest of the set-apart sabbath unto Yahweh: bake that which ye will bake to day, and seethe that ye will seethe; and that which remaineth over lay up for you to be kept until the morning. 16:24 And they laid it up till the morning, as Moses bade: and it did not stink, neither was there any worm therein. 16:25 And Moses said, Eat that to day; for to day is a sabbath unto Yahweh: to day ye shall not find it in the field. 16:26 Six days ye shall gather it; but on the seventh day, which is the sabbath, in it there shall be none.16:28 And Yahweh said unto Moses, How long refuse ye to keep My commandments and My laws? 16:29 See, for that Yahweh hath given you the sabbath, therefore He giveth you on the sixth day the bread of two days; abide ye every man in his place, let no man go out of his place on the seventh day. 16:30 So the people rested on the seventh day.
[The perfect sabbath – seven consecutive days. Continuing for all time. Only by adding to the word does the wave sheaf become a commanded time, a set-time, and attaching it to unleavened bread makes sure it will never abut the weekly sabbath.]
(Act 2:1-4 KJV) And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. 2:2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. 2:3 And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. 2:4 And they were all filled with the Set-apart Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
(Act 20:16 KJV) For Paul had determined to sail by Ephesus, because he would not spend the time in Asia: for he hasted, if it were possible for him, to be at Jerusalem the day of Pentecost.
(1Co 16:5-9 KJV) Now I will come unto you, when I shall pass through Macedonia: for I do pass through Macedonia. 16:6 And it may be that I will abide, yea, and winter with you, that ye may bring me on my journey whithersoever I go. 16:7 For I will not see you now by the way; but I trust to tarry a while with you, if the Master permit. 16:8 But I will tarry at Ephesus until Pentecost. 16:9 For a great door and effectual is opened unto me, and there are many adversaries.
[Pentecost – Pente = 50 so count 50 thus it is the same feast as shavuot, but it speaks to a different harvest. Believers not wheat. It is also considered as the date of the giving of the Torah. We know the Sabbath was set for all time in Genesis 2 and again in Exodus 16 which was on the 22nd day of the 2nd month of the 1st year of Israel's birth. Because the Sabbath, feasts, and Yahweh’s name are all marks and seals of our relationship with Yahweh we need to do our best with what we are given to get them right according to scripture, not tradition.]
(Joe 2:25-32 KJV) And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten, the canker worm, and the caterpiller, and the palmer worm, my great army which I sent among you. 2:26 And ye shall eat in plenty, and be satisfied, and praise the name of Yahweh your Almighty, that hath dealt wondrously with you: and My people shall never be ashamed. 2:27 And ye shall know that I am in the midst of Israel, and that I am Yahweh your Almighty, and none else: and My people shall never be ashamed. 2:28 And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out My spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions: 2:29 And also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those days will I pour out My spirit.
2:30 And I will shew wonders in the heavens and in the earth, blood, and fire, and pillars of smoke. 2:31 The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and the terrible day of Yahweh come. 2:32 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of Yahweh shall be delivered: for in mount Zion and in Jerusalem shall be deliverance, as Yahweh hath said, and in the remnant whom Yahweh shall call.
[After restoration of the physical will the fullness of spiritual restoration come. People who call for the DAY OF YAHWEH’S WRATH do not know what they are asking for. I for one am thankful I do not live in that day, not yet. Still there are those who will be alive and pass through that time. They certainly will have need of special spiritual help for the enemy will be present prior to that day with all his power of deceit, out right lies and fear tactics. Still Yahweh’s spirit is available to us as individuals in all times. Let us daily call on the name of Yahweh and the covering and teachings of Yahshua.]
