Standing In The Gap

June 12, 2021

[A gap in an open space, as in a wall, a break or pass in a mountain, an empty space, a wide difference or disparity. If we are standing in the gap we are filling in the hole, supplying what is missing, bringing to light what is causing the disparity.]

(Eze 22:23-31 KJV) And the word of Yahweh came unto me, saying, 22:24 Son of man, say unto her, Thou art the land that is not cleansed, nor rained upon in the day of indignation. 22:25 There is a conspiracy of her prophets in the midst thereof, like a roaring lion ravening the prey; they have devoured souls; they have taken the treasure and precious things; they have made her many widows in the midst thereof. 22:26 Her priests have violated My law, and have profaned Mine set-apart things: they have put no difference between the set-apart and profane, neither have they shewed difference between the unclean and the clean, and have hid their eyes from My sabbaths, and I am profaned among them. 22:27 Her princes in the midst thereof are like wolves ravening the prey, to shed blood, and to destroy souls, to get dishonest gain. 22:28 And her prophets have daubed them with untempered morter, seeing vanity, and divining lies unto them, saying, Thus saith the Most High Yahweh, when Yahweh hath not spoken. 22:29 The people of the land have used oppression, and exercised robbery, and have vexed the poor and needy: yea, they have oppressed the stranger wrongfully. 22:30 And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none.

(Eze 22:31 KJV) Therefore have I poured out mine indignation upon them; I have consumed them with the fire of My wrath: their own way have I recompensed upon their heads, saith the Most High Yahweh.

Untempered H8602 From an unused root meaning to smear; plaster (as gummy) or slime; (figuratively) frivolity: - foolish things, unsavoury, untempered.

[The first group are the prophets who have daubed or covered Torah with foolish things. Things that are displeasing to Yahweh, unsavoury.

The priests have violated Torah and misused the set-apart things in a common way while breaking the Sabbath.

The princes are devouring the people for their own gain.

The people oppress, rob the poor the needy, and the stranger.

When Yahweh looked for one like Moses or Abraham to stand and plead for the people He found no one. If He looked among us would He find one willing to stand against the religions of today to bring out the true believers that they might also stand and be counted?]

(Eze 13:22-23 KJV) Because with lies ye have made the heart of the righteous sad, whom I have not made sad; and strengthened the hands of the wicked, that he should not return from his wicked way, by promising him life: 13:23 Therefore ye shall see no more vanity, nor divine divinations: for I will deliver My people out of your hand: and ye shall know that I am Yahweh.

[Judah suffered with 400 years of silence between the time of Malachi and Matthew.]

(2Pe 2:17-22 KJV) These are wells without water, clouds that are carried with a tempest; to whom the mist of darkness is reserved for ever. 2:18 For when they speak great swelling words of vanity, they allure through the lusts of the flesh, through much wantonness, those that were clean escaped from them who live in error. 2:19 While they promise them liberty, they themselves are the servants of corruption: for of whom a man is overcome, of the same is he brought in bondage. 2:20 For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Master and Saviour Yahshua Messiah, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning. 2:21 For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the set-apart commandment delivered unto them. 2:22 But it is happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog is turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire.

[Does a group teach adherence to customs established by their forefathers as being equal to or a fit replacement of Yahweh’s teachings and instructions? Are the leaders exceedingly well off while there are those in the group who do without the bare necessities of a life of modest comfort?

Are the teachings of modesty and respect for each other taught and enforced, both those for the home and those for the public life?

Is increasing the size of the group more important than adherence to the plain meaning of scripture?

What does it profit a person to be brought into such a group? Verse 21 says it would be better that they had never heard the good news than to have heard it and then to have been lead back into a similar life style of selfishness backed by the twisting of scripture and the plain disallowing of power to certain teachings and sections of scripture.]

(Isa 59:14-21 KJV) And judgment is turned away backward, and justice standeth afar off: for truth is fallen in the street, and equity cannot enter. 59:15 Yea, truth faileth; and he that departeth from evil maketh himself a prey: and Yahweh saw it, and it displeased him that there was no judgment. 59:16 And He saw that there was no man, and wondered that there was no intercessor: therefore His arm brought salvation unto Him; and His righteousness, it sustained Him. 59:17 For He put on righteousness as a breastplate, and an helmet of salvation upon His head; and He put on the garments of vengeance for clothing, and was clad with zeal as a cloke. 59:18 According to their deeds, accordingly He will repay, fury to His adversaries, recompence to His enemies; to the islands He will repay recompence. 59:19 So shall they fear the name of Yahweh from the west, and His honor from the rising of the sun. When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of Yahweh shall lift up a standard against him. 59:20 And the Redeemer shall come to Zion, and unto them that turn from transgression in Jacob, saith Yahweh. 59:21 As for Me, this is My covenant with them, saith Yahweh; My spirit that is upon thee, and My words which I have put in thy mouth, shall not depart out of thy mouth, nor out of the mouth of thy seed, nor out of the mouth of thy seed's seed, saith Yahweh, from henceforth and for ever.

[Because there is no truth being taught nor followed there can be no true justice with equity. It wondered Yahweh that no one stood for truth except Isaiah. So Yahweh will do the job Himself by using His enemies to punish His children, and then destroying those same enemies because of their hateful treatment of the children. Isaiah’s seed shall carry the truth of Yahweh time with out end. In today’s world that covenant is still in force and we need to be a friend to our brother Judah. That does not mean we should accept all their teachings but certainly Torah.]

(Mat 23:1 KJV) Then spake Yahshua to the multitude, and to His disciples, 23:2 Saying, The scribes and the Pharisees sit in Moses' seat: 23:3 All therefore whatsoever they bid you observe, that observe and do; but do not ye after their works: for they say, and do not. 23:4 For they bind heavy burdens and grievous to be borne, and lay them on men's shoulders; but they themselves will not move them with one of their fingers. 23:5 But all their works they do for to be seen of men: they make broad their phylacteries, and enlarge the borders of their garments,

[How often have we been warned to look at the private lives of our leaders before placing trust in their teaching?]

(Mat 6:19-21 KJV) Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: 6:20 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:

6:21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

[The sheds in my yard are proof of this teaching for most of what has been stored is no longer of use to the current generation for their life style is so different than mine. What is not spoiled has passed from common usage so is now a burden instead of the blessing it was intended to be. Why store it? In case I might need it sometime in the future. Should my future be insured by my power or the power of Yahweh?]

(Jer 5:1-5 KJV) Run ye to and fro through the streets of Jerusalem, and see now, and know, and seek in the broad places thereof, if ye can find a man, if there be any that executeth judgment, that seeketh the truth; and I will pardon it. 5:2 And though they say, Yahweh liveth; surely they swear falsely. 5:3 O Yahweh, are not thine eyes upon the truth? thou hast stricken them, but they have not grieved; thou hast consumed them, but they have refused to receive correction: they have made their faces harder than a rock; they have refused to return. 5:4 Therefore I said, Surely these are poor; they are foolish: for they know not the way of Yahweh, nor the judgment of their Almighty. 5:5 I will get Me unto the great men, and will speak unto them; for they have known the way of Yahweh, and the judgment of their Almighty: but these have altogether broken the yoke, and burst the bonds.

[Yahshua said His yoke was easy to bear, but for those who would break the bond that ties us to Yahshua and Yahweh where can pardon be found? Who will lead them back to the safe haven of Yarweh’s loving arms. Who is standing in the gap?]

(Gal 1:1-10 KJV) Paul, an apostle, (not of men, neither by man, but by Yahshua Messiah, and Almighty the Father, who raised Him from the dead;)1:2 And all the brethren which are with me, unto the churches of Galatia: 1:3 Grace be to you and peace from Almighty the Father, and from our Master Yahshua Messiah, 1:4 Who gave Himself for our sins, that He might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of Almighty and our Father: 1:5 To whom be honor for ever and ever. Amen. 1:6 I marvel that ye are so soon removed from Him that called you into the grace of Messiah unto another good news: 1:7 Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the good news of Messiah. 1:8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other good news unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. 1:9 As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any othergood news unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed. 1:10 For do I now persuade men, or Almighty? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Messiah.

[Paul is a shining example of standing in the gap. He calls attention to the attempts of the enemy to pervert Yahweh’s truth. The least of us can do this work! Each time we correct an improper quote or paraphrase from scripture we are standing in the gap, as we do when someone says scripture does not mean what it says and we correct them. We need to be careful of our own words as well. If you misspeak correct yourself as soon as you become aware of the error spoken or written. None of us knows everything, but together we can represent the whole if we continue to study and endure correction and stand together allowing truth to come from the one Yahweh has chosen to speak at this time. We should not be so jealous of our place that we cannot allow another to speak when they are speaking truth according to scripture even when it disagrees with the current understanding. How many times I have had to accept that my old understanding was skewed by error and I have had to correct my path. There is no shame in having been wrong. Shame enters when we refuse to be corrected by scripture. Ignorance is a lack of knowledge, stubborness is refusing to learn.]
