No Law, No Sin
April 25, 2020
[Today's lesson comes from a question asked of me as a teacher.
If there is no law how can the church put a person out of fellowship, or even condemn them for what the world says is wrong?]
(1Ti 1:3 KJV) As I besought thee to abide still at Ephesus, when I went into Macedonia, that thou mightest charge some that they teach no other doctrine,
[What Paul said still stands! The point taken and now set aside by many churches is that Paul taught Torah, the teachings and instructions of Yahweh, not man. When I was younger I studied under two Rabbis in the Messianic movement and they taught Torah, the first five books of the scriptures. In all the years I have been a student of scriptures there is no place where Yahweh says that receiving forgiveness of your sins through Yahshua's sacrifice does away with the law/Torah, just the opposite is true!]
(1Ti 1:4-7 KJV) Neither give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which minister questions, rather than righteous edifying which is in faith: so do. 1:5 Now the end of the commandment is charity out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith unfeigned: 1:6 From which some having swerved have turned aside unto vain jangling; 1:7 Desiring to be teachers of the law; understanding neither what they say, nor whereof they affirm.
[If you do not study the whole of scriptures you cannot have the complete picture! Having studied under the Baptist, Methodist, Seventh day Adventist, and the Messianic s, [The Jehovah's Witnesses have declared me um-teachable since I insist the scriptures are the only teaching tool worth while], and the Comforter I find a lot of picking and choosing in all but the Messianic s, but they have their picks to stress and to tsk tsk as well. Never the less, as I plainly read in scriptures it is an all or nothing acceptance that will bring about the totally changed life we claim we want.
Love from a pure heart can only come from a heart intent on serving one master, Yahweh, first last and always!]
(1Ti 1:8-11 KJV) But we know that the law is good, if a man use it lawfully; 1:9 Knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the unrighteous and for sinners, for unholy [those not set-apart to serve Yahweh] and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers, 1:10 For whoremongers, for them that defile themselves with mankind, for menstealers, for liars, for perjured persons, and if there be any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine; 1:11 According to the glorious good news of the blessed Almighty, which was committed to my trust.
[If we are walking the strait and narrow we do not fall under the law, just as we do not fall under the power of the traffic cop if we are doing what we should. So how can you know you are walking aright? You study scriptures and apply all that apply to you in your current walk to yourself. My walk is different than the walk of another for I am different and my path, as well as yours, is set before me daily – how to walk today. I cannot change yesterday, nor can I determine how my daily choices effect and affect tomorrow. Only today! That is all I have. Do I think about and let those thoughts have weight on today's choices? Yes I do for I know that once acted on they cannot be changed, nor can I control any but myself, and that poorly sometimes.
As I looked for verses dealing with lawlessness the KJV only gave the above, The Tree of Live gave 13 for they included 3 from the Old Covenant. The Scriptures gave 9 as did Young’s, the RV gave 4. Seems like something got lost in translation, again! When I compared the others used either wicked or evil – thereby refusing to state plainly it is the law that is being set aside.]
(2Th 2:5-10 RV) Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things? 2:6 And now ye know that which restraineth, to the end that he may be revealed in his own season. 2:7 For the mystery of lawlessness doth already work: only there is one that restraineth now, until he be taken out of the way. 2:8 And then shall be revealed the lawless one, whom the Master Yahshua shall slay with the breath of His mouth, and bring to nought by the manifestation of His coming; 2:9 even he, whose coming is according to the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, 2:10 and with all deceit of unrighteousness for them that are perishing; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
[Refusing truth is a sin for it shows a lack of belief, and belief is necessary for salvation to be obtained. Yahweh does not allow for hedging bets, you are His or you do not belong in His kingdom.]
(Dan 11:14 TLV) “In those times many will rise up against the king of the south. The lawless sons among your own people will raise themselves up in order to confirm the vision, but they will stumble.
[Today we have those who say the law has been done a way with helping to build a temple in Jerusalem.]
(2Pe 3:15-18 TLV) Bear in mind that the patience of our Master means salvation—just as our dearly loved brother Paul also wrote to you with the wisdom given to him. 3:16 He speaks about these matters in all of his letters. Some things in them are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist (as they also do with the rest of the Scriptures)—to their own destruction. 3:17 Since you already know all this, loved ones, be on your guard so that you are not led astray by the error of the lawless and lose your sure footing. 3:18 Instead, keep growing in the grace and knowledge of our Master and Savior Yahshua the Messiah. To Him be the esteem both now and to the day of eternity! Amen.
[If we read the scriptures as written we are without excuse for setting aside the teachings of Yahweh! The warning is plain – do not listen to those that tell you the law has been done away with. All that was done away with was the physical partition in the temple and synagogues that separated the Jews from those others who had joined themselves to Judaism and the teachings that led to those very walls. All are welcome as long as they are willing to submit to Yahweh's teachings and instructions, called Torah or law.]
(Rom 5:12-13 TLV) So then, just as sin came into the world through one man and death through sin, in the same way death spread to all men because all sinned. 5:13 For up until the Torah, sin was in the world; but sin does not count as sin when there is no law.
(Rom 5:13 BBE) Because, till the law came, sin was in existence, but sin is not put to the account of anyone when there is no law to be broken.
[This is hard for me because we know that some were chastised for murder and other sins before Israel was formed to learn and teach the law. So there was an individual knowledge passed down from the elders, but no formal law had been given as yet.]
(1Jn 3:4 ASV) Every one that doeth sin doeth also lawlessness; and sin is lawlessness.
(1Jn 3:4 BBE) Everyone who is a sinner goes against the law, for sin is going against the law.
(1Jn 3:4 TLV) Everyone practicing sin also practices lawlessness—indeed, sin is lawlessness.
(1Jn 3:4 Webster) Whoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law; for sin is the transgression of the law.
(1Jn 3:4 YLT) Every one who is doing the sin, the lawlessness also he doth do, and the sin is the lawlessness,
(1Jn 3:4 DRB) Whosoever committeth sin committeth also iniquity. And sin is iniquity.
(1Jn 3:4 ESV) Everyone who makes a practice of sinning also practices lawlessness; sin is lawlessness.
(1Jn 3:4 ISV) Everyone who keeps living in sin also practices disobedience. In fact, sin is disobedience.
(1Jn 3:4 JUB) Whosoever commits sin transgresses also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.
(1Jn 3:4 KJV) Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.
[All the versions agree even when using a different phasing. Sin is going against Yahweh's law.]
(Lev 20:7-8 KJV) Sanctify yourselves therefore, and be ye holy [set-apart, consecrated]: for I am Yahweh your Almighty. 20:8 And ye shall keep My statutes, and do them: I am Yahweh which sanctify you.
Sanctify H6942 A primitive root; to be (causatively make, pronounce or observe as) clean (ceremonially or morally): - appoint, bid, consecrate, dedicate, defile, hallow, (be, keep) holy (-er, place), keep, prepare, proclaim, purify, sanctify (-ied one, self), X wholly.
(Exo 22:31 KJV) And ye shall be holy [set-apart] men unto me: neither shall ye eat any flesh that is torn of beasts in the field; ye shall cast it to the dogs.
Holy H6942 A primitive root; to be (causatively make, pronounce or observe as) clean (ceremonially or morally): - appoint, bid, consecrate, dedicate, defile, hallow, (be, keep) holy (-er, place), keep, prepare, proclaim, purify, sanctify (-ied one, self), X wholly.
(Eph 1:4 KJV) According as He hath chosen us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy [set-apart] and without blame before Him in love:
Holy G40 From ἅγος hagos (an awful thing) compare G53, [H2282]; sacred (physically pure, morally blameless or religious, ceremonially consecrated): - (most) holy (one, thing), saint.
[How can we be set-apart, consecrated, to Yahweh if we do not know Him, how can we know Him if we do not study Him? Yes there are those who never have read about or heard of Yahweh or Yahshua who live as if they were adherents to His Torah. Still I did not live that way before I began to study scriptures to see for myself what they say, rather than what is preached as a stand alone basis. Each must make a choice to walk with-in or with-out.]
(Rom 1:18-20 KJV) For the wrath of Almighty is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness [without Yahweh] and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;1:19 Because that which may be known of Almighty is manifest in them; for Almighty hath shewed it unto them. 1:20 For the invisible things of Him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead [Divinity]; so that they are without excuse:
(Heb 11:6 BBE) And without faith it is not possible to be well-pleasing to him, for it is necessary for anyone who comes to Almighty to have the belief that Almighty is, and that He is a rewarder of all those who make a serious search for Him.
[What more can be said? We all sin, we all need to repent on a regular basis, for forgiveness is for past sins. It is our choice how close we want to walk to our Creator and our Elder Brother! Thankfully we are allowed to change our mind in the middle of the stream and just before the crossing as well.
So if the law is done away with why are we not embracing those who are walking in outright sin? Do you question how the new earth would be if we are to be allowed to enter in and still live as lawless beings? Frankly once around is enough for me, and I want a place where the law is obeyed as easily as breathing. A safe place where all are provided for and all walk in true love. A lawful place.]
