[From time to time the subject of resurrection is resurrected and so I went looking for the second resurrection and see what I found.]

(Rev 20:1-5 TLV) Then I saw an angel coming down from heaven, holding in his hand the key to the abyss and a great chain. 20:2 He seized the dragon—the ancient serpent, who is the devil and satan—and bound him for a thousand years. 20:3 He also threw him into the abyss and locked and sealed it over him, so that he would not deceive the nations any longer, until the thousand years were completed. After these things, he must be released for a short while.

20:4 Then I saw thrones, and people sat upon them—those to whom authority to judge was given. And I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded because of their testimony for Yahshua and because of the word of Almighty. They had not worshiped the beast or his image, nor had they received his mark on their forehead or on their hand. And they came to life and reigned with the Messiah for a thousand years. 20:5The rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were completed. This is the first resurrection.

[We are at the end of the story – almost. To number a thing implies that there is another like it, so how many resurrections were there, and how many more are there to come?]

(Luk 14:12-14 RV) And He said to him also that had bidden him, When thou makest a dinner or a supper, call not thy friends, nor thy brethren, nor thy kinsmen, nor rich neighbours; lest haply they also bid thee again, and a recompense be made thee. 14:13 But when thou makest a feast, bid the poor, the maimed, the lame, the blind: 14:14 and thou shalt be blessed; because they have not wherewith to recompense thee: for thou shalt be recompensed in the resurrection of the just.

[This is the first discussion of the resurrection after the one on marriage. So the righteous will receive their reward at the resurrection of the just or righteous, which would appear to be the first general calling forth.]

(Joh 5:24-29 BBE)  Truly I say to you, The man whose ears are open to My word and who has faith in Him who sent Me, has eternal life; he will not be judged, but has come from death into life. 5:25 Truly I say to you, The time is coming, it has even now come, when the voice of the Son of Almighty will come to the ears of the dead, and those hearing it will have life. 5:26 For even as the Father has life in Himself, so He has given to the Son to have life in Himself.

5:27 And He has given Him authority to be judge because He is the Son of man. 5:28 Do not be surprised at this: for the time is coming when His voice will come to all who are in the place of the dead, 5:29 And they will come out; those who have done good, into the new life; and those who have done evil, to be judged.

[Verse 25 set me to thinking about Lazarus – he heard and came forth]

(Joh 11:24 KJV-BRG)  Martha saith unto him, I know that he shall rise again in the resurrection at the last day.1 1:25 Yahshua said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in Me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: 11:26 And whosoever liveth and believeth in Me shall never die. Believest thou this? 11:27 She saith unto Him, Yea, Master: I believe that thou art the Messiah, the Son of Almighty, which should come into the world.

[She knew her brother was dead, what could she say?]

(Joh 11:38-44 KJV-BRG) Yahshua therefore again groaning in Himself cometh to the grave. It was a cave, and a stone lay upon it. 11:39 Yahshua said, Take ye away the stone. Martha, the sister of him that was dead, saith unto Him, Master, by this time he stinketh: for he hath been dead four days. 11:40 Yahshua saith unto her, Said I not unto thee, that, if thou wouldest believe, thou shouldest see the glory of Almighty 11:41 Then they took away the stone from the place where the dead was laid. And Yahshua lifted up His eyes, and said, Father, I thank thee that Thou hast heard M 11:42 And I knew that Thou hearest Me always: but because of the people which stand by I said it, that they may believe that Thou hast sent Me. 11:43 And when He thus had spoken, He cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come forth. 11:44 And he that was dead came forth, bound hand and foot with grave clothes: and his face was bound about with a napkin. Yahshua saith unto them, Loose him, and let him go.

[So that there would be no question that Lazarus was truly in the grave Yahshua had men, not angels, open the tomb. The men loosened the grave clothes to free him, including those that bound his feet. This was a resurrection, a special one not a counted one.]

(Luk 20:33-36 TS2009) “At the resurrection, then, whose wife does she become? For the seven had her as wife.”20:34 And יהושע answering, said to them, “The sons of this age marry and are given in marriage, 20:35 but those who are counted worthy of attaining that age, and the resurrection from the dead, neither marry, nor are they given in marriage, 20:36 for neither is it possible for them to die any more, because they are like messengers and are sons of Almighty, being sons of the resurrection.

[Most question what life will be like in the here after, and some even state that they do want to go if they could not have certain wishes of theirs granted. I believe that relationships are going to be top priority in the hereafter, much more than anything else. Are we establishing strong relationships with Yahweh now?]

(Rom 6:1-12 KJV) What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?6:2 Almighty forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein? 6:3 Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Yahshua Messiah were baptized into His death? 6:4 Therefore we are buried with Him by baptism into death: that like as Messiah was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. 6:5 For if we have been planted together in the likeness of His death, we shall be also in the likeness of His resurrection: 6:6 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. 6:7 For he that is dead is freed from sin. 6:8 Now if we be dead with Messiah, we believe that we shall also live with Him: 6:9 Knowing that Messiah being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over Him. 6:10 For in that He died, He died unto sin once: but in that He liveth, He liveth unto Almighty. 6:11 Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto Almighty through Yahshua Messiah our Master. 6:12 Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.

[Once this body ceases to live it cannot be tempted, therefore whatever state you are in, spiritually, when you die is not going to change in the grave. If you have truly turned your life over to Yahweh through Yahshua' blood you will not continue in the old life of sin. You may falter and even fall, but when you see where you are you will pick yourselves up and brush off whatever you have picked up and carry on to victory.]

(Luk 7:12-16 KJV) Now when He came nigh to the gate of the city, behold, there was a dead man carried out, the only son of his mother, and she was a widow: and much people of the city was with her. 7:13 And when the Master saw her, He had compassion on her, and said unto her, Weep not. 7:14 And He came and touched the bier: and they that bare him stood still. And He said, Young man, I say unto thee, Arise. 7:15 And he that was dead sat up, and began to speak. And He delivered him to his mother. 7:16 And there came a fear on all: and they glorified Almighty, saying, That a great prophet is risen up among us; and, That Almighty hath visited His people.

[The word resurrection is not in the text but that is exactly what happened here. Note the people gave honor to the source of the healing.]

(Luk 8:41-42 KJV) And, behold, there came a man named Jairus, and he was a ruler of the synagogue: and he fell down at Yahshua’s feet, and besought Him that he would come into his house: 8:42 For he had one only daughter, about twelve years of age, and she lay a dying. But as he went the people thronged him.

[Just when he gets to Yahshua a woman approaches and Yahshua's attention was given to her until her problem was taken care of.]

(Luk 8:49-56 KJV While he yet spake, there cometh one from the ruler of the synagogue's house, saying to him, Thy daughter is dead; trouble not the Master. 8:50 But when Yahshua heard it, He answered him, saying, Fear not: believe only, and she shall be made whole. 8:51 And when He came into the house, He suffered no man to go in, save Peter, and James, and John, and the father and the mother of the maiden. 8:52 And all wept, and bewailed her: but He said, Weep not; she is not dead, but sleepeth. 8:53 And they laughed Him to scorn, knowing that she was dead. 8:54 And He put them all out, and took her by the hand, and called, saying, Maid, arise. 8:55 And her spirit came again, and she arose straightway: and He commanded to give her meat. 8:56 And her parents were astonished: but He charged them that they should tell no man what was done.

[Yahshua told them to fear not and their prayer would be answered. Is it fear that holds back our prayers? The theme of resurrection is found only in the New Testament, but in the old there were a few restorations. Only with Yahshua is a resurrected life offered. We know very little about what that life will look like, but I trust Yahweh to give me what I need for me to reach my full potential when I get home.]

(1Jn 3:1-3 KJV) Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of Almighty: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew Him not. 3:2 Beloved, now are we the sons of Almighty, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when He shall appear, we shall be like Him; for we shall see Him as He is. 3:3And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as He is pure.

(Mat 24:29-31 KJV)  Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken: 24:30 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. 24:31 And He shall send His angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together His elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.

(2Co 5:9-10 KJV) Wherefore we labour, that, whether present or absent, we may be accepted of Him. 5:10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Messiah; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.

(Col 3:2-3 KJV) Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. 3:3 For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Messiah in Yahweh. 3:4 When Messiah, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with Him in glory.

(1Pe 5:4 KJV)  And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away.

(1Th 4:13-18 KJV) But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. 4:14 For if we believe that Yahshua died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Yahshua will Almighty bring with Him. 4:15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Master, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Master shall not prevent [go before] them which are asleep. 4:16 For the Master Himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of Almighty: and the dead in Messiah shall rise first: 4:17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Master in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Master. 4:18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

(Rev 21:1-4 KJV) And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. 21:2 And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from Almighty out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. 21:3 And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of Almighty is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people, and Yahweh Himself shall be with them, and be their Almighty. 21:4 And Almighty shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

[We do not have all the answers but the above promises are good enough for me. My life experience has taught me the scriptures are truth and can be trusted and I am trusting not only this earthly life into Yahweh's hands but all that comes after, I invite you to join me! I never found a reference to a second resurrection. Just one of the many answers that Yahweh holds until the time is right.]
