Selah, Think About That!
July 18, 2020
[We are going to look at a few things that we are told to selah, or to think about.]
(Psa 4:2 KJV) O ye sons of men, how long will ye turn My splender into shame? how long will ye love vanity, and seek after leasing? Selah.
Leasing H3577 From H3576; falsehood; literally (untruth) or figuratively (idol): - deceitful, false, leasing, + liar, lie, lying.
[Think about that! We shame Yahweh when we desire the falsehoods of the world, when we join with those who deny Him His proper place of head ship in their lives. Who charge Yahweh with cruelty and set aside His teachings for the teaching of man. Saying they are showing the truth about Him when they throw out His Torah.]
(Psa 9:13-16 JUB) Have mercy upon me, O Yahweh; consider my trouble which I suffer from those that hate me, thou that liftest me up from the gates of death: 9:14 that I may show forth all thy praise in the gates of the daughter of Zion: I will rejoice in thy saving health. 9:15 The Gentiles are sunk down in the pit that they made: in the net which they hid their own foot is taken. 9:16 Yahweh is known by the judgment which He has executed; the wicked is snared in the work of his own hands. Higgaion (meditate on this for ever). Selah.
[The above verses state a truth we are to never forget: the wicked are taken in their own wicked devices. The righteous are lifted up as they praise Yahweh.]
(Psa 21:1-7 KJV) To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David. The king shall joy in thy strength, O Yahweh; and in Thy salvation how greatly shall he rejoice! 21:2 Thou hast given him his heart's desire, and hast not withholden the request of his lips. Selah. 21:3 For Thou preventest [go before] him with the blessings of goodness: Thou settest a crown of pure gold on his head. 21:4 He asked life of thee, and Thou gavest it him, even length of days for ever and ever. 21:5 His glory is great in Thy salvation: honour and majesty hast Thou laid upon him. 21:6 For Thou hast made him most blessed for ever: Thou hast made him exceeding glad with Thy countenance. 21:7 For the king trusteth in Yahweh, and through the mercy of the most High he shall not be moved.
[We have a president who claims a relationship with Yahweh. We know that he would not be in that position if Yahweh was against it. Our president has not received honor and respect from what seem to be a majority, but we as servants of Yahweh should be quite if we cannot be respectful of Yahweh’s choice. We should be praying that verse 7 is true in this country as well.]
(Psa 24:3-6 KJV) Who shall ascend into the hill of Yahweh? or who shall stand in His set-apart place? 24:4 He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart; who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully. 24:5 He shall receive the blessing from Yahweh, and righteousness from the Almighty of His salvation. 24:6 This is the generation of them that seek Him, that seek Thy face, O Jacob. Selah.
[Oh! That verse 6 might be true of our generation. We are to remember it is those with clean hands and pure hearts who will join Yahweh on His hill. All those loyal to Yahweh from the beginning of time are included here, even to the completion of this time and place of testing.]
(Psa 24:7-10 KJV) Lift up your heads, O ye gates; and be ye lift up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of splendor shall come in. 24:8 Who is this King of splendor? Yahweh strong and mighty, Yahweh mighty in battle. 24:9 Lift up your heads, O ye gates; even lift them up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of splendor shall come in. 24:10 Who is this King of splendor? Yahweh of hosts, He is the King of splendor. Selah.
[Think about Yahweh as a warrior fighting for us and His kingdom. He cannot be defeated! The victory is assured!]
(Psa 32:1-11 KJV) A Psalm of David, Maschil. Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered. 32:2 Blessed is the man unto whom Yahweh imputeth not iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no guile. 32:3 When I kept silence, my bones waxed old through my roaring all the day long. 32:4 For day and night Thy hand was heavy upon me: my moisture is turned into the drought of summer. Selah. 32:5 I acknowledged my sin unto thee, and mine iniquity have I not hid. I said, I will confess my transgressions unto Yahweh; and Thou forgavest the iniquity of my sin. Selah.
[When I refused to acknowledge my sins I suffered, but when I repented and accepted responsibility for my actions you forgave me! When I testified of Your greatness you blessed me and forgave me.]
(Psa 32:6-7 KJV) For this shall every one that is righteous pray unto Thee in a time when Thou mayest be found: surely in the floods of great waters they shall not come nigh unto him. 32:7 Thou art my hiding place; Thou shalt preserve me from trouble; Thou shalt compass me about with songs of deliverance. Selah.
[Think about that! A safe place of shelter from trouble. A place of songs of praise!]
(Psa 32:8-11 KJV) I [Yahweh] will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with Mine eye. 32:9 Be ye not as the horse, or as the mule, which have no understanding: whose mouth must be held in with bit and bridle, lest they come near unto thee. 32:10 Many sorrows shall be to the wicked: but he that trusteth in Yahweh, mercy shall compass him about. 32:11 Be glad in Yahweh, and rejoice, ye righteous: and shout for joy, all ye that are upright in heart.
[All of scripture is for our up building and correction and we need to spend enough time in them so they are a part of us and when the enemy seeks our destruction we need not fear for Yahweh of Hosts is our defender.]
(Psa 39:3-5 KJV) My heart was hot within me, while I was musing the fire burned: then spake I with my tongue, 39:4 Yahweh, make me to know mine end, and the measure of my days, what it is; that I may know how frail I am. 39:5 Behold, Thou hast made my days as an hand breadth; and mine age is as nothing before thee: verily every man at his best state is altogether vanity. Selah.
[When we are reminded of the length of Yahweh’s ages what is the length of our lives. It is as nothing. We need to remember this life is temporary! Not a thing to be desired forever, for in this life there is trouble, even for the righteous!]
(Psa 44:4-8 KJV) Thou art my King, O Almighty: command deliverances for Jacob. 44:5 Through Thee will we push down our enemies: through Thy name will we tread them under that rise up against us. 44:6 For I will not trust in my bow, neither shall my sword save me. 44:7 But Thou hast saved us from our enemies, and hast put them to shame that hated us. 44:8 In Almighty we boast all the day long, and praise Thy name for ever. Selah.
[It is only through Yahweh that we have any true protection and provision in this life. The enemy pays his employees, but he also makes deductions that cause pain and loss.]
(Psa 49:4-15 KJV) I will incline mine ear to a parable: I will open my dark saying upon the harp. 49:5 Wherefore should I fear in the days of evil, when the iniquity of my heels shall compass me about? 49:6 They that trust in their wealth, and boast themselves in the multitude of their riches; 49:7 None of them can by any means redeem his brother, nor give to Almighty a ransom for him: 49:8 (For the redemption of their soul is precious, and it ceaseth for ever:) 49:9 That he should still live for ever, and not see corruption. 49:10 For he seeth that wise men die, likewise the fool and the brutish person perish, and leave their wealth to others. 49:11 Their inward thought is, that their houses shall continue for ever, and their dwelling places to all generations; they call their lands after their own names. 49:12 Nevertheless man being in honour abideth not: he is like the beasts that perish. 49:13 This their way is their folly: yet their posterity approve their sayings. Selah. 49:14 Like sheep they are laid in the grave; death shall feed on them; and the upright shall have dominion over them in the morning; and their beauty shall consume in the grave from their dwelling. 49:15 But Almighty will redeem my soul from the power of the grave: for He shall receive me. Selah.
[Think about those who trust that the almighty $ will save them and somehow help them escape the grave. Those that come after, that have seen their end still think the same thoughts. They do not learn from example or chastisement. In the morning, after the resurrection, the righteous will be in charge and will never see the second death.]
(Psa 50:3-6 KJV) Our Almighty shall come, and shall not keep silence: a fire shall devour before Him, and it shall be very tempestuous round about Him. 50:4 He shall call to the heavens from above, and to the earth, that He may judge His people. 50:5 Gather My saints together unto Me; those that have made a covenant with me by sacrifice. 50:6 And the heavens shall declare His righteousness: for Almighty is judge Himself. Selah.
[Think about that! Yahweh will come! He will not keep silent! He is our judge, not the world! He calls those that have made a covenant with Him. Those whose lips have spoken truth and praise unto His name. Those who have suffered/sacrificed for His names sake will be gathered together with Him.]
(Psa 52:1-5 KJV) To the chief Musician, Maschil, A Psalm of David, when Doeg the Edomite came and told Saul, and said unto him, David is come to the house of Ahimelech. Why boastest thou thyself in mischief, O mighty man? the goodness of Almighty endureth continually. 52:2 Thy tongue deviseth mischiefs; like a sharp razor, working deceitfully. 52:3 Thou lovest evil more than good; and lying rather than to speak righteousness. Selah. 52:4 Thou lovest all devouring words, O thou deceitful tongue. 52:5 Almighty shall likewise destroy thee for ever, He shall take thee away, and pluck thee out of thy dwelling place, and root thee out of the land of the living. Selah.
[Mighty men with powerful words have no power before the wrath of Yahweh. They will not live forever, nor will they see within the gates of the the great city of New Jerusalem. If tempted to rebellion, even a small rebellion, think of what it could cost you!]
(Psa 55:12-19 KJV) For it was not an enemy that reproached me; then I could have borne it: neither was it he that hated me that did magnify himself against me; then I would have hid myself from him: 55:13 But it was thou, a man mine equal, my guide, and mine acquaintance. 55:14 We took sweet counsel together, and walked unto the house of Almighty in company. 55:15 Let death seize upon them, and let them go down quick into hell: for wickedness is in their dwellings, and among them. 55:16 As for me, I will call upon Almighty; and Yahweh shall save me. 55:17 Evening, and morning, and at noon, will I pray, and cry aloud: and He shall hear my voice. 55:18 He hath delivered my soul in peace from the battle that was against me: for there were many with me. 55:19 Almighty shall hear, and afflict them, even He that abideth of old. Selah. Because they have no changes, therefore they fear not Almighty.
[Yes, even our brethren will chastise us for walking so close to Torah, we will be accused of being self-righteous. But when we put it before Yahweh He will hear us and afflict them that have afflicted us. They do not change because they will not allow their hearts to be altered. Think on that when you are ministering to those who will not hear.]
(Psa 60:2-5 KJV) Thou hast made the earth to tremble; Thou hast broken it: heal the breaches thereof; for it shaketh. 60:3 Thou hast shewed Thy people hard things: Thou hast made us to drink the wine of astonishment. 60:4 Thou hast given a banner to them that fear thee, that it may be displayed because of the truth. Selah. 60:5 That Thy beloved may be delivered; save with Thy right hand, and hear me.
[Yahweh chastises in order to get our attention so we can receive instruction on how to get on and stay on the path He desires for us. Banners are used to draw attention. Yahweh wants us to think about the banner He has given us.]
(Isa 11:1-6 KJV) And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots: 11:2 And the spirit of Yahweh shall rest upon Him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of Yahweh; 11:3 And shall make Him of quick understanding in the fear of Yahweh: and He shall not judge after the sight of His eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of His ears:
11:4 But with righteousness shall He judge the poor, and reprove with equity for the meek of the earth: and He shall smite the earth with the rod of His mouth, and with the breath of His lips shall He slay the wicked. 11:5 And righteousness shall be the girdle of His loins, and faithfulness the girdle of His reins. 11:6 The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them.
[Our banner is Yahshua! Think about that! It is His gift of forgiveness for repented sins, a gift that changes the heart of mankind, we are to offer and then instruct in right living. Yahweh has placed His people in many folds and it is their job to minister as He instructs, where He instructs. Our job is not to seek in those other folds, for Yahweh will bring out who He will. Our job is to be equipped to receive, with a loving attitude, and instruct them when they are coming out.]
(Psa 62:2-8 KJV) He only is my rock and my salvation; He is my defense; I shall not be greatly moved. 62:3 How long will ye imagine mischief against a man? ye shall be slain all of you: as a bowing wall shall ye be, and as a tottering fence. 62:4 They only consult to cast Him down from His excellency: they delight in lies: they bless with their mouth, but they curse inwardly. Selah. 62:5 My soul, wait thou only upon Almighty; for my expectation is from Him. 62:6 He only is my rock and my salvation: He is my defense; I shall not be moved. 62:7 In Almighty is my salvation and my honor: the rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in Almighty. 62:8 Trust in Him at all times; ye people, pour out your heart before Him: Almighty is a refuge for us. Selah.
[Those outside Yahweh’s covenant may appear strong but there are weakness’s that will destroy those who dwell in them, those outside Yahweh’s approval. They are those who cast doubt upon the trustworthiness of His word, who would lead us from faithfulness. Those who study mankind and say that history is more trustworthy than scripture for man has monkeyed with scripture. Surely man has put his thoughts in all mankind's writings.]
(Psa 68:17-19 KJV) The chariots of Almighty are twenty thousand, even thousands of angels: the Most High is among them, as in Sinai, in the set-apart place. 68:18 Thou hast ascended on high, Thou hast led captivity captive: Thou hast received gifts for men; yea, for the rebellious also, that Yahweh Almighty might dwell among them. 68:19 Blessed be the Most High, who daily loadeth us with benefits, even the Almighty of our salvation. Selah.
[Even the rebellious give gifts to Yahweh in hopes He will pass over them in the judgment. Think about all you have that is good, everything that has been good in your past. They all came from Yahweh, every day, every thing, that is good in our lives are gifts from Yahweh. It is He who has given us Yahshua and the gift of forgiveness from repented sin.
Think about that!]
(Psa 81:3-7 KJV) Blow up the trumpet in the new moon, in the time appointed, on our solemn feast day. 81:4 For this was a statute for Israel, and a law of the Almighty of Jacob. 81:5 This He ordained in Joseph for a testimony, when he went out through the land of Egypt: where I heard a language that I understood not. 81:6 I removed his shoulder from the burden: his hands were delivered from the pots. 81:7 Thou calledst in trouble, and I delivered thee; I answered thee in the secret place of thunder: I proved thee at the waters of Meribah. Selah.
[Yahweh has delivered all of us from those things which have separated us from Him, those things and times that offend Him. Think about that and give thanks. Our lives are to be a testimony of the saving power of Yahshua’s blood to bring about a purifying of the heart. We all have Meribah’s and we all need to be strengthened from time to time. We need to think about all we have to be thankful for. We are alive and if we are not walking righteously there is time, today, to set things right with Yahweh. Tomorrow may not come so today is all we really have so use it wisely.]
(Psa 89:34-37 KJV) My covenant will I not break, nor alter the thing that is gone out of My lips. 89:35 Once have I sworn by My set-apartness that I will not lie unto David. 89:36 His seed shall endure for ever, and his throne as the sun before Me. 89:37 It shall be established for ever as the moon, and as a faithful witness in heaven. Selah.
[There is an if in other scriptures that say when the children are walking in obedience. We have every right to expect a relative of David to once again rule in Jerusalem for Yahweh cannot lie. How often do you think about that?]
(Hab 3:10-13 KJV) The mountains saw Thee, and they trembled: the overflowing of the water passed by: the deep uttered his voice, and lifted up his hands on high. 3:11 The sun and moon stood still in their habitation: at the light of Thine arrows they went, and at the shining of Thy glittering spear. 3:12 Thou didst march through the land in indignation, Thou didst thresh the heathen in anger. 3:13 Thou wentest forth for the salvation of Thy people, even for salvation with Thine anointed; Thou woundedst the head out of the house of the wicked, by discovering the foundation unto the neck. Selah.
[Think about that! Yahweh has threshed the enemy and the day is coming when He will thresh them out of existence. But even better think about the great future for the loyal servants of Yahweh!]
